We are sorry! …ECG apologises to customers for system failure
The recent power outage has been attributed by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to problems with the ICT system. The managing director of ECG, Mr. Samuel DubikMahama, said the business had so far been able to restore operations of District Offices and third-party vendors within its operational areas to serve some districts in the Ashanti Region even though he would not confirm whether the system had been hacked.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra yesterday, he said that the ECG App would be finished by yesterday’s end, allowing users to buy prepaid power on the platform.
He acknowledged the ECG’s role in the current issue and apologized to the customers for any harm brought on by the power disruptions.
“We at ECG acknowledge that we are to blame for not being able to supply power to our cherished clients over the previous few days. Our duty is to serve you with strength, yet we were unable to. We sincerely apologize as a result, Mr. Mahama said.

He asked customers to visit the ones close by to get their power, noting that all vending points or stations were currently operational with the exception of a small number in the Ashanti region.
Adding that “we will look at compensation case by case,” he urged those who have suffered losses to report them to the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC).
He stated that the ECG had also had some losses as a result of the difficulty and that it will be able to calculate its overall losses after the system restoration exercise was finished.
Customers who used any kind of illicit connection during the outages were encouraged by Mr. Mahama to stop in order to avoid facing consequences when the meter audit group resumed its job.
He said the company will soon start a drive to cut down on the seven different types of meters it already offered. Technology means that new ones are constantly being developed to replace the outdated ones.
Our goal is to eventually have all of us using the same kind of meter. We will soon disclose the start date and location of the drill,” he continued.
Since September 25, certain consumers have been unable to top-up electricity on prepaid meters due to technical difficulties with the metering system nationally, according to an announcement made by the ECG last week.
Customers across a number of ECG operational regions, including Volta, Kumasi, Accra, Takoradi, Tema, Cape Coast, Kasoa, Winneba, Swedru, Koforidua, Nkawkaw, and Tafo, were impacted by the technical issue.
At several ECG offices, consumers could be seen lining up to try to buy power for their houses, which had been without power for days.

Twitter to charge $20 per month for verification badge
Only a few days after taking over as Twitter’s CEO, Elon Musk is apparently working on some significant improvements.
The Twitter Blue membership and even the verification procedure, which awards verified accounts with a “Blue tick,” are expected to undergo modifications.
According to reports, the Twitter Blue subscription will be connected to it, and Musk also has big price increases planned for the subscriptions.

The new Twitter Blue subscription will cost customers $19.99, according to a report by The Verge. Additionally, Twitter accounts that already have the blue tick will need to abide by this new system and pay for it.
According to the article, verified users will have a total of 90 days to switch to Twitter Blue before they lose their checkmark.
Employees of Twitter have also been told to resign or move quickly with this new membership plan. According to the article, a deadline of November 7 has been set for the staff.
Blue Twitter Subscription
Twitter Blue, a paid monthly opt-in subscription that grants exclusive access to premium services, was introduced last year.
This, according to Twitter, will allow you to personalize your Twitter experience. In the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, the subscription service is now available.
It will be interesting to see how Musk implements both a global rollout and a complete overhaul of the payment system. Twitter Blue can be bought in-app on iOS and Android in the regions that are eligible.
Elon Musk recently revealed screenshots from internal Twitter communications that proved the board of directors had misled to him before the transaction was finalized.
The security chief mentions “fraudulent metrics” being shown in the screen grab. Bots, however, were not mentioned. According to Musk, he will share additional details in the coming days.
