The Kumasi Traditional Council authorizes Oyerepa FM to reopen for operation

The Management of Oyerepa FM has been given permission by the Kumasi Traditional Council to reopen.

Three days after the radio station was shut down, on Monday, discussions resulted in this decision.

As an act of repentance for enabling Akwasi Addai ‘Odike’ to use their platform to verbally criticize traditional authority, the station shut down at the request of the Council.

The Asokore Mamponghene, Nana Boakye Ansah Debrah, was begged by the radio station’s management to guide the group for its second presentation before the traditional council.

A representative of the Asokore Mampong chief headed the team to make their case, flanked by other leaders of the Methodist Church of Ghana.

Prof. Emmanuel Asante, a former head of the Peace Council, lent his support to the cause.

He reveals that strict controls have been put in place to make sure that radio show panelists do not have any opportunities to disobey authority.

We arrived in a spirit of humility to beg Asanteman to forgive them. And praise God, they granted our request; thus, they asked them to return to their jobs, Prof. Asante informed the media.

The Banatamahene Baffour Amankwatia VI, the head of the Kumasi Traditional Council, was begged to pardon them by each of the council’s fourteen divisional chiefs.

The request would be conveyed to the Asantehene, according to Bantamahene, who is the chairman of the Kumasi Traditional Council.
