$3m Mansion Allegation: I Dare Amidu To Drag Me To Court – Felix Kwakye
Former Deputy Information Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has described as a “cock and bull” story, allegations that he purchased a mansion valued at $3million-dollar days after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) lost power in 2016.
According to him, eventhough the Board Chairperson of the Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP), Mrs. Linda Ofori-Kwafo has come out to rubbish the supposed list of corrupt officials under investigations by the OSP, he still finds his inclusion on the list as “funny”.
Authenticity Questioned
Earlier this week, Mrs Ofori-Kwafo questioned the authenticity of a list of 25 cases purported to be cases of interest that the Special Prosecutor has started investigating and asked the public to disregard the list.
She said the list, if authentic, should rather be a cause for concern for all, as it would mean that there was a mole in the office leaking information not meant for the public yet.
The list, which was widely reported in the media, includes opposition figures as high profile as former President John Mahama and government appointees under the Akufo-Addo administration such as Board Chairman of the Ghana National Petroleum Company and National Chairman of the governing NPP Freddie Blay; Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga, among others.
There’s Iota Of Truth…OSP Leaked List
Reacting to the list on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu insisted there is an iota of truth in the story since the source of the publication cannot just concoct that list out of the blue.
“We are not kids in this country, it was myjoyonline.com which published the list believed to have come from the office of the Special Prosecutor and such institution has a pedigree and integrity to protect and so it cannot go to the roadside to pick up the list,” he asserted.
The former government appointee strongly believed “it is either Martin Amidu himself or someone from his outfit gave the list to myjoyonline.com to publish it and so it is incumbent on Martin Amidu to come out to respond to the list circulating in town before we can trust him”.
To him, if that list got leaked to the by Martin Amidu, then he has flouted the law.
“If you look at Act 959 (3), it is the law that binds the office of the Special Prosecutor. It explains that if office of the Special Prosecutor will come out to announce his activities to Ghanaians, there are two things he has to do; he can only publish cases he is done with investigations and also cases which the court has decided on or before the court for arbitration,” he explained.
He churned out therefore that “there is nowhere in the law which allows him to publish cases he is investigating or about to investigate; so that list if it is true, it is illegal”.
Big Fat Lie
He however maintained his innocence, insisting that “I have never bought a mansion worth $3 million dollars anywhere in the country”.
“Let me take this opportunity to emphasize on this matter that it is never true that I have bought a mansion worth $3 million dollars anywhere in Ghana. It is a big fat lie; fabricated story being peddled out there to tarnish my name which does not make sense one bit”.
Amidu Should Be Man Enough
Felix Kwakye Ofosu subsequently threw down the gauntlet to the Special Prosecutor to be “man enough” by dragging him to court if he has any evidence to the contrary.
“As for Martin Amidu, I am throwing a challenge to him that if he is man enough, he should take me to court if he believes that the allegation is true and he will see the disgrace he carry home because there is no truth in it; it has no basis. I have not bought any mansion

DEBUT ALBUM: Miriam Mandipira & The Soul Family
DEBUT ALBUM by Miriam Mandipira & The Soul Family!
You’ve never heard a voice like Miriam Mandipira’s. Undeservedly, she doesn’t take credit for the power or presence she delivers. For Miriam, music is much more than just notes and words. It’s
magic. And faith. You can experience it LIVE and on the album, which is set to be released on September 1st.
She has been singing for as long as she can remember, growing up with her ears glued to the radio.
From the moment her school teacher asked her to sing in class, the rest has been history. From Africa to Denmark, from Book Café in Harare to Mojo Blues Bar and the big concert halls. From
Danish Radio Big Band to the Royal Theater. Music is music, and Miriam is the music.
“But it’s not about me when I sing. I’m just the instrument, and when I’m on stage with my band, I sing from a place that’s not about rules and technique but about emotions,” says the singer, who is
seriously trying her hand at songwriting – together with her Soul Family on the album “Ndiwe”, which means ‘you are the chosen one of my heart.’ The overall message is impossible to ignore
Love.
“Call me a soul singer, call me a jazz singer. I don’t care. Good music is good music, and I love interpreting other people’s songs and being inspired. At the same time, I think it’s great to try my
hand at creating and writing the songs myself – and with my friends in the Soul Family, I have found my place. They are my family, and the curiosity and respect we share are fantastic.”
You can experience that up close when Miriam & The Soul Family take the stage. The enthusiasm for music and communication is impossible to ignore and hear.
“I love to maintain the feeling of being a child. It’s an excitement and curiosity that keeps me going, and that’s why I’m so excited about every single concert – no matter how small or large it is.
Otherwise, I would never do it. This is not just a casual thing. This is a life, and everything means something,” says Miriam, who began her years in Denmark by jamming at Mojo Blues Bar, building a network.
