I Chose Afro Gospel Because I Don’t Like Being Boxed – Joseph Matthew

Published

on

Afro Gospel musician, Joseph Matthew has revealed the reason why he chose to venture in the Afro Gospel genre. In an interview on Citi Tv’s “Breakfast Daily” with Elaine Attoh.

Joseph Matthew explained that the traditional Gospel genre is circuit tight which leaves little to no room for innovation and creativity. As a cross over artiste who started off as a hiplife rapper and loves to create, share the word of God, and motivate, he found the Afro Gospel genre the best that fits just his music style and culture.

The current Gospel Song of the Year holder, GMA-UK, Joseph Matthew told the host, Elaine that music has always been a part of him because his family is a music one. As a trained drummer, he has always seen the Gospel music as the calling on him. Even though he left music for a while, he came back to it after school.

Also, Joseph Matthew posited that the target group for his music is largely the youth because he believes they need more uplifting and positive music to shape their growth. He further explained that as a ministry, Gospel music has somehow dejected them and he feels its his calling to fill those gaps. He furthered that it is not only that but also his music cuts up to all other people as well.

Having to his credit, seven tracks with exclusively beautiful videos to them, Joseph Matthew gave a wonderful performance before the start of the show and after that.
