AMBASSADOR TIBOR NAGY SAYS SANCTIONS COULD BE IMPOSED ON CAMEROON IF DIALOGUE FAILS
Answering to questions on Cameroon at the US House of Representatives’ Committee on Foreign Affairs, Assistant Secretary, Bureau of African Affairs, U.S. Department of State, The Honorable Tibor P. Nagy, Jr said Cameroon could be sanctioned if the government fails to organize an inclusive dialogue without conditions with those in the restive North West and South Wets regions including the Diasporas. He said the government can never win the war with the military.
Excerpts :
I sat with President Biya a couple of months ago and he told me you know we are interested in dialogue, but the government has done nothing to show for. They set up some institutions which have not done anything. We continue to press forward with our allies, we had an Arrias at the United Nations Security Council. Cameroon Government has come up with some institutions, but they have not really done anything because what the country needs more than anything else is a genuine opened dialogue, probably to include the Diasporas of the Cameroonians because they have a great deal of interest in this.
Because Sir, what is happening, both sides are becoming further and further radicalized. Unfortunately, I believe that the President of Cameroon is being told by his hotlines that he can win this war militarily. There is no way that they are going to win this militarily. The violence is going to get worse in the North West and South West. The violence will spread to the West province, it may even spread to the Littoral Province which has the largest city of Douala.
So there must be something. We are very energetically speaking with all Allies like I said we just had in the Security Council this Monday in the UN Arrias and it’s so clear that everybody wants to move forward with this. There is a possibility of what happened in Nigeria with Boko haram which started as a small movement, look at it now.
MR BUCK: looks like the more security Council clamps down, the more they get radicalized. What can be done to solve this situation?
Like I said, the best we can do right now, we have Allies, is really make Cameroonian government understand the need for a real dialogue…. But if it does not happen we have other tools…possibility of sanctions is always there.
MR BUCK: Is permanent separation of the two regions a possibility
Sir I do not believe so because I think that both North West and North West have a sense of “Cameroonianess” and it is the view of America to recognize the integrity of Cameroon.
SOLDIER KILLED IN BUEA AS SEPARATIST FIGHTERS FORCED PRIME MINISTER TO TAKE AN HELICOPTER TO KUMBA
It was a tense atmosphere in South West regional capital, Buea as Prime Minister Dion Ngute’s journey to Kumba in Meme Division was delayed for hours following a surprised attack by Ambazonia fighters on soldiers. The PM’s successful arrival in Buea on Tuesday May 14 and hi strip in Limbe had put away fears that the fighters were going to strike. But they took the entire Buea by surprise with thunderous shots and a systematic attack on soldiers in Molyko and Mile 17, the most popular areas. One Soldier was killed, and the PM had to fly by air to Kumba.
SHOPS SEALED IN KUMBA
Kumba authorities today sealed some shops at the market as PM Dion Ngute arrived the area. Shop owners did not show up, while the town remained ghosted. Just like the Mayor of Buea who destroyed shops, Kumba Authorities sealed the shops in frustration with the possible low turnout of the masses to receive the PM.
ALLEGED AMBA BOYS LAY DOWN WEAPONS IN KUMBA

IDPs POORLY TREATED IN MBANGA AS SEPARATISTS MOVE CLOSE
A witness writes to CNA , “The Internally Displaced persons from the south west are suffering in the hands of these custom officials. The same petrol popularly known as funge being bought in Limbe and the custom duties are being paid along the Tiko- Douala road. The men in uniform from Mbanga are harassing them daily, a custom officer will pass and collect the sum of 10000frs from those selling the fuel of which their gain is only 2000frs.
I was in Mbanga on Monday to respond to a convocation in the Brigade Territorial and the military men came in with guy they refer to him as an AMBA boy, as the guy tried to escape, they shot him twice on the leg. Later the military truck came in and carried him saying that they are taking him to Douala but killed and threw him at Carrefour Jesus in between Kompina and Maleke along the Douala road.”

Ghanaian Business Mogul Allegedly M*rdered In South Africa
Intel from a reliable source stated that a 48 year old Ghanaian businessman, Newton Kwaku Boateng, who is based in South Africa has been allegedly poisoned to death by his South African wife in SA a week ago.
Mr. Newton who recently had scuffles with his wife had reported her to his family in Ghana, and even threatened divorce. Suspecting foul play, Boateng’s family have expressed their displeasure and despair at the death of their relative. They believe without doubt that indeed, their relative was poisoned by his wife.
Mr. Godwin Attipoe who spoke on behalf of Newton’s Family in Ghana said “We are so devastated. We are so angry. We are so heartbroken.”
He hinted that after the death of the beloved brother, a case of inquest was opened in Kempton Park, South African Police Service in Gauteng Province, South Africa, adding that “Kempton Park is a City which is based in Gauteng Province”.
Godwin Attipoe claimed they suspect corruption and cover up of the murder of Newton Kwaku Boateng by Kempton Park police station which he claimed is working closely with the wife of the deceased Alinah Mahlangu. Why? Their inquest for an autopsy be done on the victim is being denied by the police service in SA.
An emotional Godwin had to pause speaking as he started weeping, triggering cries among his other family members who were with him.
He further revealed that South African police say they are investigating and awaiting autopsy results after the body with foam in his mouth was found.
He however said “We are giving the South Africa police the authority and power of attorney to order an autopsy on Newton Boateng who died on March 2, 2023”.
He appealed to the Ghana Embassy in South Africa to assist the family to supervise the autopsy on the deceased, which his wife is resisting, adding that the wife of the deceased has not been authorized to represent the family on the issue.
More developing on the issue. Watch this space.
