Fredyma Endorses Joseph Matthew for TGMA Urban Gospel Song of the Year
The 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) just got a whole lot more exciting! Charterhouse, the organizers, have introduced a brand-new category: Urban Gospel. This move has sent shockwaves of excitement throughout the entertainment industry.
Veteran sound engineer Fred Kyei Mensah, aka Fredyma, is over the moon about the new category. He believes it’s a game-changer, recognizing the incredible contributions of Urban Gospel artists.
In a chat with Ghvibe.com, Fredyma praised the progress of Urban Gospel artists in Ghana. “The introduction of the Urban Gospel Category is a dream come true. So many talented artists will benefit from this recognition… It’s going to be a very competitive category, and I can’t wait to see who takes home the award!”
Fredyma specifically highlighted multiple award-winning Urban Gospel singer Joseph Matthew as a strong contender. “Joseph Matthew is a genius. His vocal strength, African rhythms, and timing are impeccable… His song ‘Fear No Evil’ is pure magic. The way he weaves together inspiring lyrics, catchy melodies, and infectious beats is simply masterful.”

Gospel artist Herty Bongreat recently shared her thoughts on why she chose to collaborate with secular artists Sarkodie and Trigmatic. Her response highlighted the importance of looking beyond surface-level appearances. “People we perceive as ‘worldly’ often possess remarkable humanistic qualities, even surpassing those who claim to know Christ.”
Herty emphasized the need to engage with others before making judgments. “Comparing their lifestyle to that of some people within the church reveals a stark difference.”
