Prez. Akuffo Addo Frees 800 Prisoners Over COVID19
President Akufo Addo has granted presidential amnesty to 808 prisoners upon recommendation from the Prisons Council Service and in consultation with the Council of State .
According to a statement signed by Patrick Darko Missah, Director General of Prisons, beneficiaries include 783 first offenders , 11 seriously ill persons, 7 inmates on death row to be commuted to life imprisonment , 4 inmates serving life sentence to have sentence commuted to 20 years definite term and 3 very old prisoners(70 years abd above).
