Kirani Ayat calls out gov’t as Nana Addo uses his video without his consent

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) claims that it requested permission before utilizing portions of “Guda” in the “Visit Ghana” ad through a “bespoke creative firm,” to which rapper and singer Kirani Ayat has responded.

The company posted the article on Instagram on September 28.

Kirani Ayat sent a press release to the Authority in response to the announcement.

“I would like to categorically state that NO agency has any RIGHTS whatsoever to my intellectual property,” he said.

The rapper emphasized that he had not granted the group any permission to utilize his video for promotional purposes.

“I, Kirani Ayat, have NOT granted any agency the authority to use my likeness or carry out any work on my behalf.”

The message went on to emphasize that the Ghana Tourism Authority had not disclosed the agency’s identity.

The letter ended by warning the group to disclose the identity of the agency and the signed contracts that formalize the arrangement with the Ghana Tourism Authority.

This comes after rapper Kirani Ayat criticized the government for appropriating parts of his music video, GUDA, without the rapper’s or the music video director, David Nicol-Sey, seeking permission.

Gospel artist Herty Bongreat recently shared her thoughts on why she chose to collaborate with secular artists Sarkodie and Trigmatic. Her response highlighted the importance of looking beyond surface-level appearances. “People we perceive as ‘worldly’ often possess remarkable humanistic qualities, even surpassing those who claim to know Christ.”

Herty emphasized the need to engage with others before making judgments. “Comparing their lifestyle to that of some people within the church reveals a stark difference.”

In addition to her thoughts on collaboration, Herty also shared valuable advice on parenting in the digital age. “As parents, we must be proactive and involved in our children’s lives, especially online. Assuming we know what they’re doing can lead to unawareness of potential issues.”

Herty’s words serve as a reminder to approach others with an open mind and to prioritize involvement in our children’s lives.
