Shatta Wale’s Attacks On Media Personnel Shouldn’t Be Overlooked – Entertainment Critic Writes

Published

Entertainment Critic and blog writer, Lionel Osei who works with Price Fm‘s ‘Entertainment Review Show‘ and ghvibe.com has penned down a long essay to the authorities and law enforcers in the country to task and deal with Shatta Wale according to the laws of Ghana, for his variant attacks on individuals and more especially media personnel.

He stressed on the fact that if media personnel were to work effectively and effeciently, then the law should be enforced to the barest form without fear and favour to protect them since their own contribution to nation building is critically objective as others are.

He wrote:

“Recent attacks from the Camp of Shatta Movement headed by Shatta Wale has not been pleasant. From attacks on his colleague musicians, media personnel and whole lot of threats to anyone who to them seem an enemy.

Shatta Wale started this violent behavior of his during the 2012 VGMA’s when he jumped on stage to attack Khaakie(a fellow musician) who had won Best Dancehall Artiste that year because he taught he rather deserved that spot. Also in 2017, Stonebwoy ‘s wife, Dr. Louisa  was attacked at that year’s Ashiaman To The World Concert, allegedly by the Shatta Movement, when Shatta Wale came to support Stonebwoy.

Fast forward to 2019, Shatta had a turf with Stonebwoy during the year’s VGMA’s awards. He alongside some loyal of his movement went on stage to cause chaos when Stonebwoy was ajudged the winner of the Best Dancehall Artiste category, just as he did to Khaakie in 2012. Shatta Wale did not stand down although his feud was still in court and went ahead to attack an upcoming rapper, Kweku Smoke who alleged that Wale has stolen his song. He beat up the guy and vandalised his car when he (Kweku Smoke) was called over to Shatta’s house to resolve the issue.

As if all these were not enough, just some few days ago, Shatta Movement spearheaded by Wale has again attacked a blogger by name Kobby Kyei of Kobbykyeinews.com. The bizarre fact about the attack is, the Shatta Movement is on various social media platforms taking claim of the attack and issuing various threat on bloggers and critics to watch out because they may be next.

If media personnel cannot critic freely and present facts as they are and have to distort facts for fear of their lives, where are we heading as a country? If authorities would watch just one person to do so much harm(both physically and emotionally) to people and be left off the hook on countless occasions, then the country has a long way to go. Is this not our peaceful Ghana again?

The authorities and keepers of the entertainment industry in Ghana should look into these issues critically and melt necessary punishment to offenders respectively.”

Borrowing the term “Moneycetamol, from award winning female musician, Shatana’s new song, Pastor Tetteh vividly illustrates the relief that financial stability brings to our lives, likening it to a potent painkiller that soothes the aches of poverty.
