2023 World University Ranking: UCC stays best in Ghana, 1st in West Africa, and 4th in Africa

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has been ranked the best university in Ghana, first in West Africa, and 4th in Africa in the 2023 Times Higher Education Rankings.

The announcement appeared in the 2023 annual rankings published by Times Higher Education.

The University got the privilege of claiming the titles of best university in Ghana, greatest institution in West Africa, fourth best university in Africa, and top university in the world for research influence in the 2022 rating.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023 is the largest and most diversified university ranking to date, comprising 1,799 universities from 104 nations and regions.

The performance of an institution in four areas—teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook—is measured by the table’s 13 meticulously calibrated performance indicators.

Over 121 million citations from over 15.5 million research publications were examined for this year’s ranking, which also includes survey responses from 40,000 experts worldwide. approximately 680,000 points from more than 2,500 institutions that submitted data were collected.

Trusted worldwide by students, teachers, governments and industry experts, this year’s league table reveals how the global higher education landscape is shifting. 

The University of Oxford tops the ranking for the seventh consecutive year. Harvard University remains in second place, but the University of Cambridge jumped from fifth last year to third.

The highest new entry is Italy’s Humanitas University, ranked in the 201-250 bracket.

The US is the most-represented country overall, with 177 institutions, and also the most represented in the top 200 (58).

Mainland China now has the fourth-highest number of institutions in the top 200 (11, compared with 10 last year), having overtaken Australia, which has dropped to fifth (joint with the Netherlands).

Five countries entered the ranking for the first time – all of them in Africa (Zambia, Namibia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Mauritius).

Harvard topped the teaching pillar, while Oxford leads the research pillar. Atop the international pillar is the Macau University of Science and Technology.

Overall, 1,799 universities are ranked. A further 526 universities are listed with “reporter” status, meaning that they provided data but did not meet the eligibility criteria to receive a rank, but agreed to be displayed as a reporter in the final table.

As a Home Science student, her expertise in fashion is unpaired. From creating complex but nice designs and slaying on the runway during fairs is something that wows even her tutors. Her savoir faire abilities can also not be left out.

Although a student, Muniratu is said to be designing clothes for people for functions like weddings, engagements, graduations, et all.

It is due to her prowess that drove High Schools Youtuber, Goshers of High Schools Africa on youtube to do a documentary of Muniratu’s creative process and her dreams and aspirations in the future.

Kofi Kingston Puts Up ICT Facility In His Hometown In Ghana

Ghanaian-born WWE superstar Kofi Kingston, gave back to society by building an information and communications technology (ICT) facility in his hometown of Atwima Takyiman in the Ashanti Region.

Images of the facility from different building eras were posted on Facebook by a user going by the name of Kwabena Nsafoa.

Rumor has it that the technology center will provide training in computer literacy, media and information literacy (MIL), critical thinking, and inventive problem-solving methods to the people of Atwima Takyiman and the adjacent communities.

It was also made known that Kofi Kinston plans to build comparable buildings in other underdeveloped areas of the nation in order to promote appropriate information and technology education.

WWE professional wrestler, Kofi Kingston, has built a Center that will offer training in computer literacy, media and information literacy (MIL), critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills, while instilling a love of reading and research in students in his hometown Atwima Takyiman in the Kwadaso Constituency. He intends to build similar projects in other underprivileged communities in the country. Yɛ daase bro,” The caption for Kwabena’s post read.
