The Bremang UGC Landlords Association in the Bremang East Electoral Area of the Suame Municipality of the Ashanti region has expressed anger over the siting of a fuel filling station that is currently under construction in the area.

The project that started in 2014 has been rocked by a series of agitations by the residents who fear for its attendant environmental impacts.

At a stakeholders meeting on Wednesday, it was agreed that the project should be halted for the necessary Environmental Impact Assessment to be conducted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other relevant authorities.

Present at the meeting were the MCE for Suame, Dr John Osei Bobie, Ashanti Regional Director of the EPA, Mr Samuel Oteng, the Suame Municipal Fire Commander, Bremanghene Baffour Kotei Kutin Sraman II and a lot of other stakeholders.

The aggrieved landlords who spoke with Angel News vowed to oppose the project with the last drops of their blood because its consequences could be dire.

Bremanghene, Baffour Kotei Kutin Sraman II asked the landlords to give way for the project and not to be seen to be driving away the needed development in that area.

The Suame MCE, Dr John Osei Bobie said he would not hesitate to accent to the completion of the project if the Environmental Impact Assessment proves positive despite agutations by “hypocrite” landlords and residents.
