CHILD-MARRIAGE; INVOLVE TRADITIONAL & FAITH LEADERS OR FORGET IT- GENDER MINISTRY TOLD
Programs Director for Muslim Family Counselling Services (MFCS) Sheikh Mohammed Bun Bida has underscored that government’s fight against Child marriage in Ghana will only be fruitful if the latter consider involving faith and traditional leaders.
Per his defence statement, most of the factors which have led to hiked rate in child marriage are strongly rooted in culture and religious believes.
Considering the collosal influence that faith and traditional leaders have over their people, Sheikh Mohammed Bun Bida challenged that it will be of much prudence if the duo characters are given a key role in the fight against the menance.
He asserted that ” they will use their scriptures and influence to speak to their followers to correct the situation”.
Speaking to *GHANA BULLETIN ONLINE* in an exclusive dialogue, Shiekh Mohammed Bun Bida expressed worry over the delivery of the Child-Marriage Unit created by government at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
He said without mincing words that the Child-Marriage Unit has not been effective in the fight against the canker in question since it only exist as a single unit in Accra.
The role of the unit according to him should have been decentralised to other regions and districts for an effective workdone.
This gap he sharply noted is seriously hindering the efforts of the Ministry of Gender Children and Social Protection.

In a poignant and thought-provoking address, Pastor Jakes Tetteh, founder of Redeemed Kingdom Gospel Church at Botwe Third Gate, has shed light on the crippling effects of financial struggles on individuals and society. Borrowing the term “Moneycetamol, from award winning female musician, Shatana’s new song, Pastor Tetteh vividly illustrates the relief that financial stability brings to our lives, likening it to a potent painkiller that soothes the aches of poverty.
