PTA sends SoS message to govt over free SHS

The National Council of Parent-Teacher Associations (NCPTAs) has indicated a desire to support the government’s efforts in putting the free Senior High School (SHS) policy into practice.

The Council is of the opinion that in order for the policy to be sustainable and help the government’s financial burden, they will need to support it.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO), Irene Sam, warned of serious consequences if the government continued to refuse during the Beyi W’ano episode on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem.

“The government has performed well, and we are grateful for that, but we have reached a point where we must reinstate the PTA in order to support the schools. The sooner we take action because things are out of control, the better for everyone involved. The government ought to let us in for the benefit of our kids, she argued.

The regular food shortages in schools were another issue mentioned by Madam Sam, who emphasized that their assistance would go a long way toward resolving the issue.

“They keep telling us there are no food shortages, but our kids are famished in class, despite their assurances,” Nothing has changed despite our monitoring of the situation, she lamented.

She claims that they are constantly prepared to lend a hand as soon as the government gives the go-ahead, but all efforts have been in vain.

We have called the Education Ministry for a meeting and sent multiple letters, but no one has responded, she admitted.
